DENTAL CLEANINGS

Dental cleanings are the first line of defense against oral health issues, allowing us the opportunity to remove plaque while also checking for other issues that may be going on. There are two different kinds of cleanings we offer at our office.

Deep Cleanings

During regular cleanings, also known as prophylaxis cleanings, we remove plaque and tartar from your mouth. Even if you’re brushing your teeth and flossing regularly, there are some forms of buildup that you won’t be able to address at home.

By coming in to visit the dentist once every six months, you can help prevent more costly dental procedures. During your dental cleaning, we can also provide advice regarding your at-home oral care routine.

Regular Cleanings

If you’re experiencing gum disease, we’ll need to address the cause of the inflammation. After that, we’ll need to ensure that your periodontal pockets don’t get inflamed. For this reason, there are two stages of deep cleaning:

• scaling and root planing - this is the initial procedure, during which we’ll clean below the gum line to ensure that nothing continues inflaming that area. we’ll then smooth the tooth root.
• periodontal maintenance - once you’ve received your scaling and root planing, more regular cleaning in the office will be required to maintain your oral health.
